Christchurch Rebuild (ongoing)

Christchurch, the second largest city in New Zealand,  suffered two earthquakes in 2010 and 2011. Much of the city centre was destroyed and is now being demolished to make way for a new city centre. I moved to Christchurch in April 2013 and was immediately struck by the vast empty spaces in and around the CBD, the partly destroyed iconic and heritage buildings, and the way Cantabrians are trying to bring colour and life to these empty spaces. These images are my way of documenting the city as old makes way for new and I feel excited to be part of this rebuild of an once thriving city centre.
